Plum Plum

A collection of Japanese small bowls representing a plum blossom. In Japan, this type of flower shaped vessel is often used on the table to evoke the short-lived beauty of spring. Pale yellow earthen clay is covered with a layer of white powder-clay before transparent glazing, called the Japanese "kohiki" technique. It results in faint shades of pink, and yellowish clay is seen through.
